Complete Pre-Pointe Training & Evaluation Program for Ballet Teachers
A structured, safety-focused Pre-Pointe curriculum designed to help ballet teachers confidently evaluate readiness and prepare students for pointe work through a clear, progressive training pathway.
This program provides a complete framework for identifying which students are truly ready for pointe work, building the required strength and technical control, and guiding teachers through a consistent, season-based progression toward a safe transition.
Designed for use in both recreational and pre-professional studio settings, this program supports teachers in making informed, confident decisions while maintaining high technical standards and prioritizing dancer safety.
A Structured, Teacher-Led Approach to Pointe Readiness
This program is built around a comprehensive evaluation process for students who meet the following recommended criteria:
At least 12 years old
Minimum of 3 years of consistent ballet training
Ongoing enrollment in at least 2 ballet classes per week (not including Pre-Pointe)
Demonstrated responsibility in class preparation, dress code, and ability to apply corrections effectively
The program also provides clear guidance for situations where a student is not yet ready for pointe work, helping teachers communicate decisions with confidence and consistency.
Seasonal Progression Model
The Pre-Pointe Program is designed to begin at the start of the training season (August/September) and guide students through structured development leading toward pointe readiness assessment and transition in January, when appropriate.
This focused timeline ensures that students are not rushed, and that only those who demonstrate consistent strength, control, and technical readiness progress to pointe work.
What’s Included:
Comprehensive student evaluation form for pointe readiness assessment
4 complete Pre-Pointe lesson plans
Structured warm-ups, progressions, and combinations in each class
Foot-focused center work adaptable to any ballet class
Detailed teacher notes and implementation guidance
Student and parent handouts for clear communication and expectations
Visual references to support alignment, strength, and technique development
Designed to Develop:
Foot and ankle strength and articulation
Lower body stability and postural control
Alignment and placement awareness
Flexibility and mobility specific to pointe readiness
Technical consistency under teacher evaluation
Safe, informed progression toward pointe work
Built for Teacher Confidence and Studio Consistency
This program is designed for studio owners and individual teachers who need a clear, professional system for managing pointe readiness across their students.
It provides structure for evaluation, consistency in expectations, and clear communication tools for both parents and students—reducing uncertainty around one of the most important decisions in a dancer’s training.
Rather than rushing students onto pointe, this program supports a deliberate, evidence-based approach that prioritizes long-term dancer health, strength, and technical integrity.
“Great curriculum!
This is a great addition to our homeschool curriculum. Very simple and elegant and easy to follow. As we go through the lesson, day by day, the children’s capacities are refined and improved. The music selections are also excellent. It takes the mystery and headache out of ballet lesson planning and we will definitely be following along with the higher levels in the coming months and years.”
~ anne k.“…thank you so much! Your lesson plans are super helpful. I was a little lost before I found your website. Thank you for all your help!”
~ Alta“These lesson plans have some great supplemental combos. I like to do my own lesson plans but it’s fun to add some of these into my own stuff from time to time. It’s a different teaching than mine as well, so it’s nice to give my dancers some more variety.”
